Dear Ladies,

I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful sunshine and warmer weather. This week in “The Amazing Collection” Bible study, we have been studying the book of Esther, the only 2nd book of the Bible named after a woman. In Esther, God uses Esther to help protect His people. She was in the right place at the right time. How is God using you? Do you realize that He loves you very much and created you for a specific purpose?

This summer, we will be studying Beth Moore’s “Esther, it’s Tough Being a Woman”. Going up against heavyweights bent on her destruction, Esther trusted God and landed a blow that saved her people. The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage and contains many modern parallels for today's woman. Esther's destiny can be yours as you know more deeply the God who is in your corner. The study will begin on June 4th and will be offered in the morning and evening each Thursday. If you are interested in being a facilitator for the study, please e-mail me.

This Sunday

Dear Ladies,

I hope you had time to enjoy the sunshine today and share God’s love with someone else. Today, I have been working on our fall retreat. In the next few weeks, we will be giving you dates so you can put them on your calendar. It always amazes me to watch God work when we start working on the women’s fall retreat. God has some wonderful things in store for us and my prayer is that we will bring glory and honor to the Lord in all we do.

There are a few important things I want to mention to you about this coming Sunday, February 22nd.

FALL RETREAT PLANNING MEETING: We have already begun to plan our retreat for the fall but we need help. If you would like to help plan activities, discuss speakers, topics, and themes, we will meet in the upstairs church office on Sunday morning, Feb 22nd at 9:45am (second service). There are many areas to be involved so come and find out how you can be a part.

CMA WOMEN’S RETREAT: If you have a heart for Missions, this retreat is for you. We will join about 800 women from the CMA Atlantic District and hear from missionaries from around the world. April 17-19, Held in Black Mountain at the Ridgecrest Conference Center, the cost of the retreat is $148.00 for the weekend. (Lower price if you have more than 2 women in your room). The registration deadline for this retreat is this Sunday. The registration deadline for this retreat is this Sunday.

EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN’S CONFERENCE: Take a road trip with a group of ladies to Johnson City, TN. This conference will begin Friday evening, May 1st and end on Saturday afternoon, May 2nd. Speakers include: Chonda Pierce, Angela Thomas, Stormie Omartian, Karen Kingsbury and Michelle McKinney Hammond. Cost of this trip is $80.00 and includes hotel, conference, Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast. Saturday lunch will be at your own expense. The registration deadline for this retreat is this Sunday. The registration deadline for this retreat is this Sunday.

Let me leave you with one more thought. I was asked a question today that I want to pass on to you.

“Does your opinion affect what truth is?”

What does God’s word (absolute truth) say about you? You are fearfully and wonderfully made, you are beautiful in God’s eyes. You are valuable. Believe truth today!

Psalm 139:14-17
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

You are a blessing and God loves you very much. Have a wonderful week. See you on Sunday,

Letter from Karen Dagher about the retreat

Dear Sisters in the Great Exchange:

I just want to tell you how profoundly blessed and moved I was during this weekend retreat! I can call the “wardrobe exchange” I witnessed nothing short of courageous, miraculous, and humbly obedient. The Lord used you to move me and speak to my own heart.

One question someone asked Saturday night has me thinking this evening: “What does this movement of God in our hearts this weekend mean for our church?”

In short, “What now?”

Let me share what happened prior to my final talk Saturday night. I went outside to clear my thoughts and pray just before the talk. As I stood on the trail beside our bunkhouse, unsure of how or what to pray, I heard a sound that reminded me of rain.

But it wasn’t rain.

While I am no expert on nature, I did notice that the noise came from the dry, dead leaves of the rhododendron plants, falling to the ground with the gentle breeze. When the brown leaves were cleared, the green, healthy ones that remained became more prominent. They weren’t competing with the withered leaves anymore.

The Lord quietly spoke to my heart as I looked at this. This women’s retreat was truly HIS retreat, as the Holy Spirit gently blew away some of our “dead leaves” (our decaying wardrobe) to better display the work He is doing and the wardrobe He has given us.

My prayer, fellow sojourners in this faith walk, is that the changes—rather, exchanges—we have committed to the Lord this week will begin to do what Paul hoped: Give people ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus.

My hope is that over the next couple of weeks, each and every one of you will have someone—a husband, a friend, a child, a co-worker, a neighbor, someone at church who longs to be spoken to more than a “hi”—say, “I’ve noticed something different about you.”

And if the day comes that they ask us what has made that difference, we can tell them about our “wardrobe” makeover. Who knows? We might help lead them to the Designer Himself.

That is how the change begins. That is how the bride of Christ grows more radiant. One day, one exchange, one step of faith at a time. To quote Paul again: "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. (Phil. 4:23).

In Deeper Wonderment of His Ways,
Karen Dagher

W2W Retreat Highlights

The fall ABF retreat was fantastic! We had 58 women attend and what a wonderful time we had getting to know one another. Martha Foulkes and Karen Dagher spoke on the elements of "A Peaceful Life" and many women were ministered to. Here are just a few comments from some of the ladies who went.

...Things we loved...

  • Having multiple generations of women attending, meeting new people, getting to know others better. Great food! Scheduled, but relaxed.

  • The fellowship, music, speakers, small group time, large group time, crying, laughing, the food. It was so wonderful.

  • I loved seeing the different ages and different seasons of life of women who attended the retreat. I loved the hand of God being present during the retreat.

  • The non-rushed/relaxed schedule. The content was meaningful, real, but also fun.

  • Getting to know new people, time away from the distraction of home, worship time and sessions.
If you would like to share about your experience at the retreat, please leave a comment.
